January is often a month where we try to reign it in after all the fun filled antics of Christmas – this and also the not so pleasant weather can lead us to pondering what there actually is to do that is fun but also easy on the pocket.

We’ve put together a little list of fun and affordable ideas that the whole family will enjoy, many of which are often waiting on our doorstep – time to put down the ipads kids!!

Is your little one a member of the library yet?

Your local library is often overlooked with regard to a fun and new experience and yet children absolutely love been given the opportunity to pick their favourite books. Older children especially enjoy understanding how the library works, looking after their books and returning them on the next occasion.

Check if your library organises reading sessions for kids, these are brilliant and a great way to introduce your children to their new favourite place in your area.

Have you brought your baby to the pool yet?

Tip: Check out the swimming lesson timetable to ensure that you pick a time to visit when the pool is not so chaotic!

Finding a safe route or track to enjoy a cycle with your little one is essential. Once you have found a nice route then there’s nothing stopping you!

Check out your local bike shop, they should have those nifty little children’s carriers as in the pic above. Bring your little one along for the ride while you enjoy that fresh air and exercise!

Get the aprons on and have some fun in the kitchen! You can now pick up pizza bases in most supermarkets, let your kids get their hands messy and have fun with their favourite toppings – will definitely assure a good laugh…and a tasty dinner!

Whether you have a beach nearby, a beautiful forest or mountain climb – get the right clothing on and get out there with the family.

Task each member to find a specific shell, leaf, or anything interesting – the fresh air will do wonders!
