Tell Us A Little Bit About Harry
“I was very unsure if Harry would be ready for weaning at the recommended age due to his low muscle tone. Even at 5.5 months I was afraid his head control wasn’t where it needed to be to start our weaning journey However low and behold, within the following 2 weeks he developed great head control. So with that, (and with the help of a good supportive high chair) off we went! Harry’s first tastes were sweet vegetables medley and some single fruit purees.”
Tell Us About Your Journey Into Motherhood
“I have 2 beautiful babies, a 2 year old toddler, Sophia, and my little man, Harry, who is 10 months old.
I was 15 weeks pregnant when I learned that Harry would be born with an extra chromosome. While it was a shock initially, as I just assumed I would have another typical baby (why I assumed this, I still have no idea!) But after weeks of worry , sadness, being both nervous and anxious in equal measures, I threw myself into our new normal and read all I could about Down syndrome, what it would mean for us, our family and our new baby. Harry arrived at 37 weeks and spent 6 weeks between NICU and SCBU with various health issues. I’m happy to say now he is thriving and going from strength to strength.
It has been the most amazing, eye opening, priority changing, perspective shifting, scariest but happiest 10 months of our lives since Harry was born. He has changed our family, both immediate and extended, for the better and he is truly the blessing we never knew we wanted! “
Do You Have Any Funny Feeding Stories?
“He’s a great feeder to date and will eat anything put in front of him (giving me a false smugness about my cooking :-)) Lately he has started grabbing the spoon and bowl though leading to level 10 nuclear like destruction around the floor of his high chair!”
What’s Harry’s Least Favourite Food?!
“Luckily, we haven’t come across anything yet that he doesn’t like!”
When Do You Find Pip & Pear Comes In Handy For You?
“All of the above! So handy to have some Pip & Pear for day trips out and about, when I want night off from the kitchen or when have forgotten to take a dinner out of the freezer from my own batch! It will be the first thing on my packing list for our break away in the Autumn!”
What’s your favourite dish to cook for Harry?
“While I give out (a lot!) about batch cooking , I do love making dishes full of flavour for my kids. Chicken with Sweet Potato and Apple is a hit here as are Sole Goujons with Grapes “
